Channel Your Inner Don Draper Starting With These 6 Bar Cart Essentials!
We’ve shown you some mini bar ideas before, and even shared where you can get liquor when you’re too lolo or lola to go out. Now it’s time to get to making those bar cart ideas happen and channel your inner Don Draper. So, here are 6 bar cart essentials to start from.
1 | The Perfect Cart
This one’s a given; but, with the wide range of bar carts out there, it gets tricky finding the perfect match to your condo’s design style, your lifestyle, and of course your liquor collection. You can go minimal and modern with sharp, straight lines or playful with curves and layers. If you’re going for something luxe, opt for metal finishes and glass. Make sure it’s also sturdy, can handle all the bottles of alcohol you’re placing on it, and fit your tiny space!
2 | Liquor
Speaking of liquor, you can have anything and as much as you want in your bar cart. But it’s best to curate your bottles, which in a way helps you avoid hoarding. Unless you move to a more spacious condo, keep your mini speakeasy clean, roomy, and tasteful. At least, have one bottle of each of these must-haves: whiskey (or whisky), gin, vodka, bourbon, scotch, tequila, rum, sweet and dry vermouth, and triple sec/cointreau.
3 | Mixers And Garnishes
Naturally, you got to play with you liquor collection and make some cocktail drinks. You’ll need tonic water, soda water/club soda/sparkling water, ginger ale, tomato juice, and angostura bitters. Don’t forget to prepare the garnishes: olives, sugar cubes, lemons, limes, orange slices, and mint leaves.
4 | Barware
Mix the ingredients using your barware, which should consist of an ice bucket, shaker, jigger, muddler, strainer, whiskey spoon, whiskey stones, ice scoop, bottle opener, and corkscrew. It’s best to have them all in one color in complementary colors so your bar still looks posh. For example, if your bar cart is in silver, pair it with silver barware, like they came like a set.
5 | Glassware
Since you have quite a liquor collection and a variety of concoctions you can make from them, you will also need the necessary glassware for each of them. Here are the basics you need: champagne flutes, white wine glasses, red wine glasses, martini glasses, short collins glasses, tall collins glasses.
6 | Beer And Wine
While these are part of “liquors,” beer, red and white wines, and champagne are a bit lighter. It’s always best to have these ready for when you invite friends who are light drinkers, you’ll have something to offer.
