A DIY-Blogger styled this 56sqm Pinterest-Inspired Condo
Pinterest is a well of wealth for design inspiration, especially for interiors of compact spaces and studio units. Blogger Michelle Riñosa-Sy styled this 59sqm unit for Cristy Sy, her sister-in-law using various photos sourced from Pinterest. Located in a low-rise property in the metropolis, Cristy got the unit as another place of residence to avoid the crazy everyday traffic. The owner contacted Michelle to actualize her vision for this modest unit, and she also asked her own brother to be the contractor, who happens to be Michelle’s husband.
Upon entering, the first thing you see is the kitchen and dining fitted with Jonathan Adler fashion. The welcoming space is made more cheerful with the addition of bright colors, evoking a sense of warmth and comfort. A six-seater dining table with bleached wood top and white base adds a vision of modern country. It is surrounded by white dining chairs, while Philippe Starck Ghost Chairs take both ends for heightened symmetry. Meanwhile, the kitchen is a study in stylish utilitarianism with subway tiles and eggshell cabinets. Chrome details like the range hood, faucet, sink, and cabinet handles seal the modern charm.
The hallway leading to the living area is lined with mirrored cabinets that serve to expand the space while effectively concealing cabinet space. Across it is a customized console table flushed against a wall that holds some DIY artwork. The living area features a vivid mélange of patterns and colors, all working together for a unified whole. A quatrefoil-printed rug grounds the horizontal, while an industrial lighting fixture directs the eye updwards.
The tufted sofa bed increases space functionality, while the tufted ottoman may serve dual purpose–either an additional seating option or a quaint table. The balcony is decked out with turf to resemble natural grass for an organic feel.
The private spaces provide an unparalleled comfort for the weary. It is a cozy retreat with muted colors and filled with affordances that rival a hotel suite.
As this condo unit proves, a dose of creativity and imagination, coupled with the willingness to experiment, may result to a haven that will be the envy of any style blogger.
