Hong Kong Trade Dev’t Council Opens Hong Kong Houseware Fair 2019 Today
Hong Kong is known for many things—good food, great shopping, and grand resorts and theme parks. During the last two decades, the small nation has commanded the attention of the design community with its dedication to upscale aesthetics. The late 90s saw Hong Kong took to heart visual merchandising where top European and American fashion houses and labels compete for the attention of the discerning Asian shopper. This move pushed the limits of designing for small spaces. If civilization was born along the major river systems of Tigris and Euphrates, sensible and efficient designing for compact homes and condominiums may have started in Hong Kong.
Continuing the tradition of showcasing the best in design, Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) unveils the 34th edition of the Hong Kong Houseware 2019 today and is scheduled to run until the 23rd of April. The fair will also be the venue for the Hong Kong International Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair. These events provide a highly specialized marketplace for all household textiles, upholstery, and furnishing products as well as a source of inspiration for design professionals in the region and beyond.
This year, the fair is set to feature more than 300 exhibitors in various zones covering major sectors in the design and textiles industry. The Hall of Glamour is the fair’s premium zone that spotlights quality brands and designer collections. Other zones include Baby and Bedroom textiles, Bathroom and Kitchen Textiles, Carpet and Floor Coverings, Design Solutions and Trade Services, Window Fashion and Accessories, and Upholstery and Furnishing Products. In addition to sourcing, the fair also features networking events, product demo and launch sessions, buyer and exhibitor forums and seminars.
