Paint Brands Name Their Color Of The Year 2019
Bold and rich colors have been on-trend this 2018, with Pantone’s Ultraviolet on the lead. It’s been great playing with all these deep tones in our interiors and even our wardrobes, but we’ve also been looking forward to 2019’s Color of the Year. Pantone hasn’t revealed their color of the year yet. However, these six paint brands have already named theirs, and we’re seeing calming, deep, and muted hues.
1 | BEHR: Blueprint S470-5
BEHR describes its color of the year as “an honest, approachable color,” and the “blueprint for the future of color.” A calming and classic hue, Blueprint recalls a view of the mountain ranges from miles away and deep shades of the ocean wave. BEHR’s in-house color expert, Erika Woelfel describes it as “warmer than denim and softer than navy.”
2 | Benjamin Moore: Metropolitan AF-690
Another calming color, Benjamin Moore’s color of the year for 2019 is a sophisticated neutral color that is always adaptable. The understated gray has a cool undertone that gives a soothing ambiance to any space. “Metropolitan AF-690 emanates nuance, harmony, and extravagant ease. Always adaptable, it softens to matte or shimmers with sheen. It’s neutral. It’s understated. It just is. This is color, off-duty,” describes Ellen O’Neill, Benjamin Moore director of strategic design intelligence.
3 | Dulux: Spiced Honey
Dulux’s color of the year 2018, Heart Wood, is succeeded by Spiced Honey. Dulux color experts describe this color as “a warm amber tone, inspired by the beauty and versatility of honey itself. Spiced Honey can be soothing or calming, cozy or vibrant, depending on the palette you pair it with.”
4 | Dutch Boy: Garden Patch 326-5DB
From the family of beiges, Dutch Boy is now hailing a hue from the family of greens its color of the year: Garden Patch. Dutch Boy describes it as “not too deep and not too primary, this nostalgic, botanical hue stands out for its warm and calming effect. Paired with soft neutral and pops of warm colors, Garden Patch offers rejuvenation and peace at the end of the day in every room of the home.”
5 | PPG: Night Watch (PPG1145-7)
Seems like greenery is still on with PPG’s color of the year for 2019, Night Watch. The color experts describe it as “a rich, luxurious, and classic shade of green allowing spaces to emulate the feeling of lush greenery and the healing power of nature.”
6 | Sherwin-Williams: Cavern Clay SW 7701 (290-C6)
Another deep color completes the list with Sherwin-Williams’ Cavern Clay SW 7701. Inspired from the hues of the desert, Cavern Clay is “ancient, yet fully alive; bohemian, yet totally refined,” as described by the color experts from Sherwin-Williams. The earthy hue is right at home with natural furnishings.
